Abdullah Abraham- Young Professional Award winner

Mr. Md. Abdullah Abraham Hossain has received the Young Professional Award and participated in the South-Asia Exchange Programme- Common Property Resource and the 13th Biennial IASC Conference 2011. Mr. Hossain was born in Bogra and brought up in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

 

Education

He has passed his secondary school certificate examination from science group in 1982 from the Karnaphully Paper Mills High School. In 1984, he has passed higher secondary certificate examination from the Chittagong College. Later on he graduated in forestry from the University of Chittagong in 1989. In 2008 Mr. Hossain has received Pasca Fellowship Siswazah to carry out Master of Science degree in Environment and Development under the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Mr. Hossain did his Post Graduate Diploma in Wildlife Management in 2006 from the Wildlife Institute of India under the Fellowship of the Global Tiger Forum. He also received JICA fellowship to conduct short training course on wetland biodiversity conservation in Japan in 2000.

 

Research Area

Mr. Hossain has keen interest for research beyond his present attachment in the Development Planning Unit of the Forest Department as an Assistant Conservator of Forests. Mr. Hossain successfully completed following three research works: (a) Implementation of integrated water resources management in Malaysia: multi-stakeholder and multidisciplinary approach; (b) Estimating the potential impacts that sea level rise may have on tiger habitat in the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem; (c) Constraints in policy and legislation with respect to the performance of co-management initiatives within Chunati Wildlife Sanctuary. Mr. Hossain did his thesis work on the implementation of integrated river basin management in Langat River basin, Malaysia.
