The publication rate of JnU is close to DU although there is a big difference in infrastructure/facilities between JnU and DU.
The researchers from the Jagannath University have contributed (from about 650 faculties) in only 159 documents (Data analyzed on 20.02.2021) in Scopus indexed journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, review, note and letter. In case of DU, the total documents were 763 (from about 2000 faculties)
Below is presented the info-graphic of the publications.
1.Top 10 researchers in terms of number of Publications
All of the top 10 researchers of the university published at least 4 research articles.
- Ahammad, A. J. S. and Khan, K. A. are the top authors with 7 publications in 2020. Ahammad is an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry and Khan is a professor at the Department of Physics
- Hasan, M. M and Islam, T. are the second top authors with 6 publications in 2020. Both of them are from the Department of Chemistry.

2. Top ten Journals and their CiteScores
Below is the list of journals in which JnU faculties have published more. Some information on how these journals are performing over time can also be derived from the CiteScores of the journals.
University authorities should review where the faculties are publishing their research.
3.Top 15 countries with which JnU researchers collaborated
Australia and Saudi Arabia are the main collaborators for JnU researchers. It seems that they are not collaborating much with scientifically advanced countries.
University authorities should review on the number of publications coming from faculties who are doing PhD and Postdoc in these countries.
4. Top 10 Funding Sponsors
No publications were funded by the University. How is that possible ? What is the explanation for this?
5. Top Document type
In 2020, according to the Scopus database (data collected on 20 February 2021), researchers of Jagannath University published around 159 research documents with the majority (82.6%) of them were Scopus index journal articles. The remaining were published as conference papers, review articles, note and book chapters. Not a single book was published by JnU faculties this year.
6. Subject areas/ Research areas
Agricultural is the top subject area of publication, after that Engineering and Chemistry.
Concluding remark
How many of these publications are coming from strategic planning of research aligned to national priority and how many are coming from faculties doing PhD and Postdoc abroad?
University should have its own listing of publications and its own analysis of the publications.
Does it have any such system? Does the authority ever count the total publications in local journals, Scopus indexed journals, the web of science indexed journals? Ever review its total publication?
Question: What is the average number of publication per faculty for JnU in Scopus? Is it 0.24 (159 publications from about 650 faculties)? In the case of DU, it is about 0.38 (760 publications from about 2000 faculties).
