The Department of Molecular Microbiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. Research Focus Areas:

Applicants with expertise in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • Host–pathogen interactions

  • Emerging infectious diseases

  • Antimicrobial resistance

  • Structural biology

  • Women’s infectious disease and women’s health

  • Mycobacterial diseases

Candidates working on women’s infectious diseases will also be appointed to the Center for Women’s Infectious Disease Research. Researchers focusing on mycobacterial diseases are especially encouraged as part of the Washington University Interdisciplinary Initiative for Mycobacterial Research and Treatment.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a competitive, externally funded research program

  • Engage in graduate and professional student teaching

  • Participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in microbiology or a related life science discipline

  • Strong publication record

  • Demonstrated potential for innovative and independent research
