Info-graphic of the Scientific Documents Contributed by researchers from Jahangirnagar University in 2021

Jahangir Nagar University stood fourth among Bangladeshi Universities and Research Institutes in 2021 based on the number of scientific documents indexed in the Scopus database.

Based on data taken on 4 February 2022, Researchers from Jahangirnagar University have published 696(444  last year) scientific documents in the Scopus indexed journals, conference proceedings, and books in 2021.

Out of 696, only 165 (23.7%) (184 last year)  documents have corresponding authors with the official email address of the University and 500(299 last year) from Bangladesh.  That means the researchers from Jahangirnagar University initiated only 165 publications, JU researchers have made a major contribution. JU faculties have made partial or minor contributions in the rest of the publications. Around 200 publications were initiated abroad, and JU faculties made a partial contribution.

The per faculty publication ratio is 0.8. This is not good productivity.   Below are the relevant infographics:

Concluding Remarks

JU has retained its fourth position, and the number of publications has increased, but the number and percentage of corresponding authors have decreased.  The per faculty publication ratio is also not up to the mark.  The university authority has to devise policies to increase research output.
