Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has obtained the 3rd Position among Bangladeshi Universities and Research Organizations in terms of the number of publications in 2021.
The researchers from BUET have contributed to only 698 documents (Data analyzed on 22.01.2021) in Scopus indexed journals, conference proceedings, book chapters, and editorial. These include 274 (144, last year) open access documents.
All the publications are in English. The top three subject areas of publications are Engineering (279), Physics and Astronomy (226), and Materials Science (169).

There is a significant change in funding sponsors. Research of 150 publications was funded by BUET, whereas it was less than 100 in the last year. Another change is funding by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
Conclusion
Out of 700 publications, 239 publications (less than one-third, 34% ) have the official email address of BUET (buet.ac.bd), and 529 publications(75%) have Bangladesh in the corresponding address. From this data, we can assess how many publications researchers from BUET and Bangladesh have made major or significant contributions or the origin of the research of the publications. The publication/faculty is more than one (1.04).
The question is, Should BUET authority be satisfied with such productivity?
