PhD Position in Intestinal Stem Cell Biology.
A three-year funded doctoral position in intestinal epithelial plasticity research at the University of Marburg.

A PhD position in Intestinal Stem Cell Biology is being offered at the University of Marburg, Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Pharmacology, within the research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Worzfeld. Applications are being invited for this opportunity.

The position is being provided for 3 years with a starting date set as soon as possible. A salary of approximately 40,000 € per annum (TV-H E 13, 65 %) will be paid in accordance with the regulations of the public service of Hesse, Germany.

The PhD project will be focused on the molecular programs of epithelial plasticity in the intestine, which are considered essential for both regeneration and intestinal cancer. Techniques such as intestinal organoids, single-cell multiomics, live-cell imaging, and animal models will be applied. Nature Careers

Tasks to be performed:
  • Active pursuit of the PhD project with the goal of characterizing molecular and functional mechanisms of epithelial plasticity in intestinal regeneration and cancer
  • Contribution to the preparation of scientific publications and presentations
  • Contribution to teaching activities in the Master’s program in Biomedical Sciences

Profile required:

  • An M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Life Sciences
  • Strong motivation, creativity, and ability to work in a team
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Prior experience in cell biology, molecular biology, imaging, histology, and animal experiments will be considered advantageous
