Research Projects
PhD Project 1 – Host Genome Editing and Immune Diversity
Investigate how invertebrate model systems use host genome editing to enhance antigen-receptor diversity. Techniques include CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis, imaging, genomics, and single-cell transcriptomics.
PhD Project 2 – Tumor Immune Evasion
Examine how tumor cells escape immune surveillance by hijacking signaling pathways and adhesion molecules. Methods feature high-end microscopy, molecular and biochemical techniques, and lipid-bilayer assays.
Eligibility

Master’s degree (or equivalent 240 ECTS) with specified coursework:

≥30 credits chemistry (≥7.5 in biochemistry)

45 credits biology/molecular biology (≥7.5 genetics, 22.5 microbiology/physiology/cell & molecular biology)
-
45 second-cycle credits in cell & molecular biology, including a ≥15-credit independent project

Proficiency in spoken and written English
Desired Qualifications

Laboratory experience (essential)

For Project 1: background in immunology, developmental biology, imaging, microinjection, or CRISPR/Cas9; bioinformatics skills a plus

For Project 2: background in immunology, cell/molecular biology, imaging, or CRISPR/Cas9; programming for image analysis advantageous

Strong motivation, independence, teamwork, and communication skills
