Prof. Thomas Stoeger is seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious postdoctoral researcher to join the dynamic team that he is presently building with the support of the “Pathway to Independence” Award (K99/R00) of the National Institute on Aging.
At Northwestern University and its Potocsnak Longevity Institute, we are at the forefront of research on the biology of aging. Our mission is to uncover the intricate molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms underlying the aging process, to foster healthier and longer lives.
This is a unique opportunity to integrate and analyze vast datasets, bridging the gap between fundamental aging biology and the power of data science.
Research Focus:
Investigate the complex interplay of aging-associated processes and age-related disease using data and machine-learning techniques, integrating large-scale biological datasets from genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic studies and text mining of the entire biomedical literature.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and lead research projects in the biology of aging.
Analyze and integrate complex datasets, drawing meaningful insights and hypotheses.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians.
Publish high-quality research articles and present findings at national and international conferences.
Qualifications:
PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
Strong curiosity about the biology of aging.
Experience in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
Familiarity with various biological databases and data platforms.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
