The Ophthalmic Microsystems Laboratory at the Byers Eye Institute, Stanford University School of Medicine, is being led by Charles DeBoer, MD, PhD. The lab is being recognized for its efforts to advance ultra-small implantable devices designed for localized ocular drug delivery. A wide range of expertise—including ophthalmic surgery, microfabrication, additive manufacturing, finite element analysis, and cell-based therapies—is being brought together by the research team. Position Overview:

Applications are being invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position with a focus on pharmaceutical sciences and cellular biology.

The following responsibilities will be expected:
  • Drug delivery systems will be characterized.
  • Pharmacokinetic (PK) models will be developed.
  • Ex vivo and in vivo measurements will be conducted.
  • Encapsulated transgenic cell-based therapies for ocular disease will be engineered and evaluated.
🎓 Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be expected to have:

  • A PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cellular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in cell culture and drug delivery systems.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
