Position Overview:

The Peng Lab at UCLA invites applications for Postdoctoral Scholars in the field of Bioinformatics with a focus on Neurodevelopment and Neurodegeneration of the visual system. We are a highly interdisciplinary team integrating multi-omics, genetics, molecular and evolutionary biology, advanced computational methods, and statistical modeling to unravel the complex molecular mechanisms underlying vision and its disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel computational methods to study the visual system’s development and degeneration
  • Acquire, integrate, and standardize large-scale multi-omics datasets
  • Perform exploratory analyses using machine learning to derive biological insights
  • Build and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and databases

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in data science, computational/systems biology, neuroscience, or a related field
  • Experience working with omics datasets (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics)
  • Proficient in R and Python; familiar with Linux, Git, and Docker
  • Demonstrated ability in statistical analysis, high-performance computing, and teamwork
  • Strong scientific communication and writing skills
