The Publication Scenario of University of Dhaka in 2024 from the Scopus and Web of Sciences
Difference between two databases is more than 500 with 14 Highly cited and 7 Hot papers

Scenario from the Scopus 

The academics of the University of Dhaka have contributed to 1592 scientific documents (data taken on 30 January 2025) in 2024 in journals, conference proceedings, and books indexed in the Scopus database.  Social Sciences, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences are the top three research areas. Heliyon, Scientific Reports, and Plos One are the top three journals. The United States, Saudi Arabia and Australia are the top three collaborative countries.

Different aspects of publication scenario of DU in 2024 based on Scopus database are presented below:

B. International- Top three are from Middle Eastern countries.

5.  Top Funding Agencies – Out of 1592 publications, only 162 publications ( 7.035 %) got funding from University of Dhaka.

6.  Document Types 

7.  Subject Areas- Social Sciences, Engineering and Environmental Science are the top three subject areas.

Concluding remarks 

1592 publications from 2000+ faculties in a year.  How is the productivity?  Social sciences and Engineering are among  the top subject areas.  How is this to be interpreted? Only 7 % publications got funding from the university.   How should we look at this status of university funding?

Concluding Remarks 

There 500 less publications in Web of Sciences than in Scopus.  How should this be interpreted ?   14 highly cited papers and 7 Hot papers.  Should the university acknowledge those researchers who contributed in those highly cited and hot papers?
