Dr. J. A. Shiddiky –Leading Early Career Bioanalytical Chemist in Australia title

Awards winner throughout academic and research career, Dr Shiddiky was born and brought up and educated in Sylhet, Bangladesh. At his early 30s, he is one of the leading bioanalytical chemists in Australia winning seven awards in three different countries.

Education

Dr Shiddiky completed SSC from Raboti Ramon High School and HSC from Sylhet M. C. College. Then he completed his BSc (Hon) in chemistry winning Undergraduate Academic Excellence Award and MSc in Physical chemistry winning Graduate Academic Excellence Award from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). He obtained his PhD from the Pusan National University (South Korea) with Best Graduate Student Award working on microfluidic devices for genomics, proteomics, and environmental samples and development of electrochemical bio- and immunosensors under supervision of Prof Yoon-Bo Shim.

Research

Just after completion of his PhD, he obtained postdoctoral research fellowship in Monash University of Australia, one of the highly ranked universities in the world to work with Prof Alan M. Bond. His excellent performance in developing microchip devices for genomics and environmental pollutants, on-chip concentration enrichment, electrochemical DNA sensor based on metal-macrocyclic compounds, nonadditivity of Faradaic and capacitance current in ionic liquids pave his way for an independent research fellowship in The University of Queensland, another leading university in the world.

In his short span of research career (2003-2010), he has already published 22 articles in peer-reviewed journals with 17 as the first author.
