Rezaul Karim completed Master of Science in Infection and Immunity at Utrecht University where he joined the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Hans Clevers, Hubrecht Institute studying role of BCL9 and Pygopys on Wnt signaling deregulated in colorectal cancer. He finished his PhD thesis on “Deregulation of innate and adaptive immune responses in human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cancer” at the Cancer Immunology section of Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Cornelis Melief. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory Prof. Dr. Josef Penninger at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (IMBA), Vienna, Austria in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim Oncology on the molecular basis of cancer metastasis using newly developed conditional knockout and genetic mouse models, in vitro mechanistic studies and in situ human cancer specimens. Afterwards, he joined Merus N.V., a NASDAQ-listed biotech based in Utrecht as a preclinical R&D Scientist on discovery of bispecific antibody mediated immunotherapies to treat human cancers. His current work at the WHO-Utrecht Center of Excellence for Affordable Biotherapeutics (UCAB) focuses on the development of high-quality and affordable biotherapeutics in multiple disease areas.
