University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, are looking for multiple creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivated PhD students and postdoctoral researchers for three cuttingedge projects funded by the DFG and BMBF on high-throughput clinical proteomics, spatial and computational proteomics.
Research Environment:
The Tenzer Lab is located in the Research Centre for Immunotherapy at the University Medical Center Mainz, Germany, and harbours the Core Facility for Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics. We are an international and interdisciplinary team working together towards the establishment and optimisation of label-free quantitative proteomics workflows. As pioneers of this technology in Germany, the group focuses on developing and applying DIA proteomic workflows. Our group has established and optimised an ion mobility-based DIA workflow for label-free quantitative proteomic analysis and is part one of the four german research cores for mass spectrometry in systems medicine. Further, a special focus is on developing algorithmic tools for retention time alignment, clustering, and normalisation of DIA-based quantitative proteomics datasets. You will be working in a group of excellent scientists, and have access to several state-of-the-art mass spectrometry platforms.
Desired qualifications and skills:
PhD students should have a M.Sc. or equivalent in any of the following disciplines or similar: biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biomedical data science
Demonstrated capability to complete high-quality research
Interest in LC-MS/MS applied to proteomics, including data analysis of high-throughput experiments, prior experience with mass spectrometry is a plus but not required
Interest in biomedical analysis and biomarker studies, especially in the context of cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure
Prior experience with Python, R, mathematical modelling or statistics is a plus.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
Goal-oriented with strong teamwork skills and enthusiasm for cutting-edge research technology
