This position offers the opportunity to work on pioneering research focused on understanding how major human pathogens—including ESKAPE organisms, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM)—persist in the host and how these insights can be translated into novel antibacterial therapies. Research Focus & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Design and conduct research to uncover bacterial persistence mechanisms and evaluate drug efficacy

  • Utilize bacterial genetics, biochemical assays, in vitro infection models, and in vivo preclinical models (including BSL-3 studies)

  • Apply multi-omics approaches (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics) to identify and validate therapeutic targets

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external partners from academia, biotech, pharma, and global health organizations

  • Present findings in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences

  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to an intellectually vibrant and collaborative research environment

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline

  • Demonstrated scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications

  • Hands-on experience in bacterial culture, molecular genetics, mammalian cell models, and biochemical methods

  • Familiarity with pharmacologic testing and evaluation of novel antimicrobial agents

  • Strong communication skills and a solid understanding of the scientific literature

Preferred:
  • Experience with BSL-3-level work or infectious disease models

  • Background in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics
