Applications are invited for a four-year PhD position in the field of Organic Electronics, where a novel light-emission technology known as the light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC) will be developed. Bright and easily patterned light emission at low voltage, lightweight and flexible device design, cost- and energy-efficient printing, and high sustainability free from toxic or rare compounds are offered by this technology. The project will be carried out at the Swedish SME LunaLEC AB (www.lunalec.com) and The Organic Photonics and Electronics Group at Umeå University (www.opeg-umu.com). Participation as an active member of the European Marie Sklodowska-Curie Training Network programme FADOS, which includes 17 PhD students across eight universities, four research institutes, and four companies, will be expected.
A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field is required at the time of employment. A strong interest in emerging technology development through systematic material research, advanced characterization methods, and device fabrication is desired.
Applications must be submitted by 30 September 2025, with the start date set for 1 February 2026 or as agreed. Further details on application requirements, procedures, and the FADOS consortium can be found at:
