Applications are being invited for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position in Plant Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) Department of the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A doctoral degree in life sciences, with specialization in plant molecular approaches, genetics, plant evolution, and diversity.

  • A strong commitment to excellence in teaching and in communicating science to teachers and students at the primary and secondary school levels.

  • Prior experience in teaching, research, or postdoctoral work in Asia—especially in multilingual and multicultural environments—is preferred but not required.


Responsibilities

The appointed candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach a range of introductory undergraduate life science courses, including those focused on plant biology and molecular genetic approaches to plant evolution and diversity.

  • Teach selected courses in Applied Plant Sciences at the Master’s level.

  • Coordinate courses, update content for in-service teacher development, and provide expert advice to schools on science-related projects.

  • Supervise teacher trainees during practicum attachments and mentor graduate students.

  • Conduct research and publish peer-reviewed papers in areas related to plant molecular genetics; interdisciplinary research will be strongly encouraged.

  • Serve on academic committees and provide consultancy or professional services to the Ministry of Education and other education-related organizations.
