Division of Nano Life Science
Focused on life phenomena at the nanometer scale, this division integrates nanotechnology, chemistry, and life sciences.

Basic Research: Advanced nanometrology, scanning probe microscopy (e.g., AFM), supramolecular chemistry, live-cell and single-molecule imaging.

Applied Research: Cancer diagnosis and treatment, nano-imaging, and precision medicine.
The division is strongly supported by the Nano Life Science Institute (NanoLSI)—a member of Japan’s prestigious World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI)—offering world-class facilities and global research networks.
Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following criteria:

Academic Background: Strong foundation in Bioscience & Biotechnology, Neuroscience, Chemistry & Applied Chemistry, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Cognitive Science.

Language Proficiency: Excellent communication skills in English or Japanese.

Educational Requirement: Master’s degree obtained or expected prior to PhD enrollment.

Outstanding candidates may be recommended for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship at the graduate level.
