In 2025, Bangladesh produced 72 highly cited papers indexed in Web of Science journals, reflecting strong research visibility and international impact. The majority of these papers were published as original research articles (70.8%), with review articles contributing nearly one-third, indicating both knowledge generation and synthesis. These highly cited works span a wide range of disciplines, led by multidisciplinary sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, materials science, chemistry, and biomedical fields, highlighting the country’s growing interdisciplinary research strength. International collaboration is prominent, with strong co-authorship links involving Saudi Arabia, the USA, Malaysia, India, China, and several European and Asia-Pacific countries. Most papers were indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), underscoring their placement in established, high-impact journals, while a smaller portion appeared in SSCI-indexed outlets. Overall, the data demonstrate Bangladesh’s increasing global research footprint and its ability to contribute influential work across diverse scientific domains. Web of Science
