Observations:
  • BUET’s research output is heavily dominated by journal articles, with review articles and early access papers forming only a small fraction, highlighting a strong focus on original research.

  • Materials Science, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and core engineering disciplines lead the research output, reflecting BUET’s specialization in applied science and engineering fields.

  • International collaboration is significant, especially with the USA, Australia, India, and Saudi Arabia, indicating BUET’s growing global research engagement.

Questions:
  • What strategies could BUET adopt to increase the share of high-impact review articles and early access publications?

  • How can BUET further diversify its research areas to include emerging interdisciplinary fields beyond the current dominant disciplines?

  • What measures can enhance the visibility and citation impact of BUET publications in top-tier journals?

BUET’s 2025 research output demonstrates a strong and focused scholarly performance with notable international collaboration, but there is potential to expand interdisciplinary research, diversify publication types, and further increase global visibility and impact.
