The Nature Awards: Inspiring Women in Science.
Seeking Exceptional Scientists Committed to Discovery, Leadership, and Mentorship.

The Inspiring Women in Science Awards celebrate and support the achievements of women in science, as well as individuals and initiatives that encourage girls and young women worldwide to engage with STEM subjects and sustain careers in STEM fields. Applications are invited in two award categories: Science Outreach and Scientific Achievement. The ideal applicant has made outstanding contributions to scientific discovery, overcoming significant challenges, and shows potential to lead an independent research group. Preference is given to those who inspire future scientists through outreach or support the retention of women in science. Nature Awards

Prize

Award Winners Will Receive
  • A US$50,000 cash prize
  • An invitation to the award ceremony in London or New York, with travel and accommodation covered
  • Editorial coverage on nature.com
  • An opportunity to present their work or initiative to scientists at The Estée Lauder Companies
  • Access to mentoring support provided by The Estée Lauder Companies
Runners-up Will Receive
  • A US$5,000 cash prize
  • An invitation to the award ceremony in London or New York, with travel and accommodation covered
Shortlisted Applicants Will
  • Be profiled on the Nature Awards website
  • Gain access to an exclusive coaching and networking community

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated success and impact
  • Future plans and sustainability
Scientific Achievement
  • Scientific accomplishments
  • Quality and impact of publications
  • Contributions beyond research, including leadership, mentoring, or service
