Scientific publications by Bangladeshi Physicists in 2022

Bangladeshi researchers from “Physics and Astronomy (including its subfield)” background published 1160 scientific documents indexed in SCOPUS 2022, placing the subject 8th based on the number of publications in 2022. But the researchers only published a few articles on pure physics and in top journals!

1. Top 15 Institutions

Researchers from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) published the highest number of scientific documents in 2022. Researchers from Daffodil International University (DIU) published the second-largest number of documents. The researcher from the University of Dhaka (DU) published the closest number of papers compared to the DIU.

2. Top 16 Authors

Prof. M. Ali Akbar and Prof. Farid Ahmed published the highest number of publications. Dr. Sabina Yasmin published the second-highest number of publications. Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib and Dr. Shamim Mahbub published the third-highest number of publications in 2022.

3. Top 15 collaborative countries

It’s good to see that Bangladeshi researchers collaborated with a few USA researchers.

4. Documents type

Most of the published documents are articles!

5. Top 15 Funding organizations

BUET funded the highest number of research projects in this subject area in 2022.

6. 1o Journals based on the number of publications

Bangladeshi researchers published the highest number of publications in Applied Sciences (MDPI), which has an impact factor of 2.67 only!

7. Cite score of 10 Journals

Bangladeshi researchers published the highest number of publications in these journals, with a cite score of less than 10!

8. Documents by subject area

Bangladeshi researchers published more than 50 percent of documents in the “Physics and Astronomy” sub-field.

9. Top 10 high-quality Journals
Bangladesh researcher published only one article (work done outside Bangladesh, but one author used Bangladeshi affiliation) in Advanced Functional Materials and 11 papers (work done outside Bangladesh, but one or more authors used Bangladeshi affiliation) in Nature Communications, which have an impact factor of 19.92 and 17.69, respectively! Also, another work (from BUET led by Prof. M. A. Basith) was published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry C, which has an impact factor of 8.

10. Top 10 high-quality Journals
Only Advanced Functional Materials and Nature Communications have a cite score higher than 20.

Conclusions
Should Bangladeshi physicists focus more on pure physics research and top-class publications?
